Green Super-food Smoothie

I enjoy a green, “super-food” smoothie almost every morning, switching up the

greens I use between Red Russian kale from my garden, Swiss chard from Big River

farms, or even sometimes lettuce.  This smoothie is a whole-foods meal and is great

on the go. 

Serves 2

Prep note:  If you do not have a high speed blender, such as a Vitamix or Bledtec,

you may need to have the frozen bananas and greens chopped, otherwise just throw

them in whole.

1-2 big bunches Swiss chard, leaves cleaned well

1 large banana, frozen

1 C organic strawberries, fresh or frozen

4 deglet or 3 Medjool dates, pitted

1 C plain, whole milk yogurt

¼ C canned coconut milk or 1 tablespoon coconut oil

1 cup filtered water

1 Tbls fresh lemon/lime juice

1 tsp ground ginger

1 tsp ground turmeric

Blend all ingredients in the blender until uniformly smooth, or about 1 minute.  If

needed add a bit more water for a pourable consistency.
